Sand Therapy-Therapy for children and adults
HomeTechniquesSand Therapy-Therapy for child...
The process involves creating scenes in a tray of sand using miniatures chosen from the therapist’s collection. These miniatures cover all areas of life such as people, plants, animals, houses, transportation, creepy crawlies, crystals etc. The sand can be shaped into whatever landscape the individual wishes to create. It invites spontaneous play.
Sandplay therapy is a fun, non-threatening approach to the unconscious and a safe space in which to explore feelings and life situations that may feel overwhelming. Sandplay externalises the inner world and enables children and adults a means of self-discovery, self-healing and integration.
Sandplay is an opportunity for a creative, non-rational experience free of the egos influences, it facilitates the individuation process. It serves as an adjunct to therapy.
